Good cover.

It's almost spot on, but the one problem is something that I mentioned in the title... You forgot to mention that it's a Metallica cover, you should edit you author comments to add that in or you could get alot of abuse and possibly a ban.

Anyhow, good job on this one, as I said, it's almost spot on but you couldn't catch that end part could you? :P :)

Kool-Aid responds:

Thanks alot man! And ok, i can redo the ending if ya wants.

Different and awesome! :)

I've never really heard anything like this before, especially on the NG audio portal, the actual structure of the song was put together very well, and i like the use of percussion although I wish they had some sort of change or effect to them to spice up the song a bit when the hoover-like synth kicked in.

I wish it didn't seem so loopish, it just sort of ended suddenly and I was kinda like, "Did my earphones just cut out? Wtf?" sorta thing. XD

Overall though it was very well done, nice job, don't ever give up, dreams are aquired through plenty of chasing and nothing is gained from giving up. :)

Syntrus responds:

thx dude!

Nice track.

Hey, I'm kinda empty minded at the moment so I don't think I'll be able to write a big review as usual. XD

I believe I got a review from you before? :) {Nice to see you on here again, if I'm remembering rightly.}

This track is very well structured, the over use of the swwep noise throught the breakdown kinda got a little repetitive, but I really liked the synth in it, the beat was well layered and sounded just right.

The bass was good, maybe could've done with a bit of compressing, the frequency on it kinda scraped away at my ears, but it's not a major problem.

The pads were done well and the backing was nice although there were a few things that I, myself would have changed, but that's just me.

Nice to see that you got into top 5 of the week, congrats.

Thanks man! I'm really glad for this review :D i actually think u are right.. i saw u some place before :)

Glad u liked it pale!

Also pichuscute0 hehe

It was alright.

I don'treally have much to say about this one, the track was ok but it dragged on too much, the crashes had some major distortion and needed compressing, it got very repetitive and made me very bored, also about every synth and drum loop in the song is preset without and effects added to them, so not really much effort went into making this.

If you're going to only use presets, even as well as you used some of them in melodies, at least try to make them a bit different using effects and don't make a 8 minute song using the same melody the whole way through.

PearlDrummer516 responds:

Well, first off, this was probably the second full song I ever made with FL Studio. I was quite inexperienced then compared to now.

Secondly, I feel you shouldn't judge a song poorly because it uses presets and doesn't have a lot of effects. If the song is good, and catches your ear, then it's a good song. It doesn't matter about anything else. I created this song to be long and intense, and I think I accomplished my goal.

On the other hand, everybody has an opinion, and I'm glad you gave me your thoughts on the matter. I'm always accepting of constructive criticism. You should keep an eye out for my more recent songs since I have a much better understanding of the program now. My newest song is IntenCity Streetz, give it a listen, tell me what you think.

Thanks for the review!

Solid overall

Hey there, this is a pretty solid track, not too many problems, just a few that really do make it a little annoying to listen to.

The main problem is that the kick drum needs some mastering and filtering as it makes the rest of the song duck, almost like sidechaining but it would appear to be non-intentional, you should definetly try to look into that.

There was a few times that the synth on the high part (I hear the synth has a bit of LFO) the synth would slide over to a slight different pitch, causing a sort of 'off' sound to the scale of your notes, choose and modify synths VERY carefully and search for flaws more than good points.

Apart from that this track is fairly decent, but it needs a bit of a polish over and a little more effort into it.

I didn't really like the percussion much to it, it wasn't really giving off a trance like feel, where are the hats, claps every half measure and most importantly, where is the bass?!?!

When you took the melody up a few notes towards the end at about 3:04 it didn't work very well, it seemed much too sudden and needed a bit of a buildup to that or at least some sort of way of making it fit in, like dying down and then fading back up would've worked quite nicely in my opinion.

The arp in the background im sure was a preset, theres nothing wrong with that but try to use some effects to make it sound morelike your own style, make something different to define your style, so that people will know it's you if they hear this, something only you do, something crazy! Something to say "Hey, here I am and you can't do this, it's mine!"

Anyway, theres a bit of feedback for you to help you along the way, I don't like to just tell people their songs are good because it doesn't exactly help them now does it? :P

Ihope I've helped you and Ihope you concider everything I have said. Maybe you could check out some of my music and give me a review back or something please? :)

Thanks for reading!

Funkyfists responds:

Of course. Thankyou for the feedback. I was really focusing on the main synth and the song felt finished once that was done... Thankyou for the feedback!

Hey there! =]

Well, I've seen some good reviews for this song and some bad ones, whatever, forget the assholes, trash reviews mean nothing eh? =] The good ones are the ones that count, don't get put down!

Your song is good, has a good hype sense to it and I love the use of piano, my main problem here would be, the bassline is VERY over used, trust me on that one, also the sort of saw type synth used as your bass and synth, you need to try and think of something unique and different to make your song stand out, you definetly pulled off a winner, but just that little more edge and you could've pulled off a legend!

I've definetly spotted your talent here and I know that you can use it a bit more than you already have, you just need that little more push. =]

What program and plugins do you use? I think i reognise alot of the stuff from certain VSTs but i daren't name them incase im wrong and make a fool out of myself >.<

Anyway, I might send you a PM to work on a project together sometime maybe if you have the time, I haven't had much to do recently and I love to work together with people, you learn alot from it! =D

Anyway dude, nice track you have here, hopefully I'll hear from you in the near future, you'll most likely hear from me. =]

LK412 responds:

Wow thanks!

I always get comments about my basslines. I always use the generic boring basslines and i know it. Thing is im to scared to experiment. I guess ill have to try some new melodies.

As dor the synths i bet you do know the vst. Nexus. I used some expansion packs tho, for the leads. I used a preset for the bassline as you figured out. =P

THanks a lot for the review and if you want to do something just shoot me a PM.

Ill check out ur songs as soon as i can.

Thanks a lot for the awesome review!

A few problems

Hey there, there isn't too many problems with this song, but there is a few that I'm going to point out to you.

Problem 1. The song is VERY repetitive, it needs to change once in a while, try using other techniques such as pitch slides, glitchy basses and glitchy drums, changing the drum pattern once in a while, if you want an example of changing your drums alot listen to my song Grind N Slash and to listen to a song with good variation and a decent bassline I'd recommend listening to something like Hollow Man by Cornandbeans.

Problem 2. Boring melody, boring synth, says it all in one go, you need a different scale of notes every now and then at least, even if it's only for a minute, try making a energetic type of synth for this type of music, the reason people are saying it's ambient is because the synth is just simply not energetic, you could even say it's calming, just put in that extra bit of effort and you'll get much better results, trust me on this one, Iused to do DnB all the time.

Problem 3. The drums are very plain and boring, if you're so stuck to these ones and don't want to change them put more drums behind them, I always have at least 3 or 4 drum lines going at once, variate them a little, make them work together!

Try all of these suggestions, you should come out with a much better song! =D

Thanks for the advice - it has helped me improve on many of my more recent songs!

Nice song!

Hey there, I really don't listen to dance so I won't have much criticism here, so bare with me, this song is very nice {crappy word :P} I REALLY liked your use of filters and the piano really did catch my ear. I found your main synth to be awesome although I didn't really like the reverb on it {thats probably just my taste on reverbs though} so not a problem there, and to be honest, I can't really say anything else, just keep up the good work! =]

TOP SCORE! =D

Slamp responds:

Hi! Wow, thank you for the review and awesome rating ^^
(pssst... I'll make sure to review back :P)

Hey!

This is a nice track, I like many of the synths used in it but I must say that the bassline is over used, try to make something up yourself, even if you just change it a slight bit, make it sound original, your very own. =]

Towards the end I hear alot of notes clashing from different synths, maybe you should alter some of the notes on other synths when you do on one.

There only seems to be one other problem I truly believe in this song is that many things just happen too suddenly, you need to make transitions on some stuff, sudden CAN work, but only rarely!

This is still a nice track no doubt though, I like this, good job.

Dj-Rayn responds:

I like your 'ear' on music. I can instantly see what your saying. I'll be sure to keep those tips in mind when I start working on more songs. Thanks much, bro.

Good Job

It's good stuff, I believe we have spoke before on MSN or something? anyways, just like F-777 said, some string are a little too high, but still sounding in good shape, I like this track alot, well done.

}{B34T1N}{ - Check out my stuff sometime and drop me a review? =]

MaestroRage responds:

I believe so yes. The strings may in fact be too high for some people's tastes. At the time I felt the high strings would pierce through the rest and give off a proper defiant vibe, I guess the target was missed there. Ah well, live and learn. Thanks for the review, i'm glad you liked it!
